The Paragons

Formed countless years in the past, the Paragons are legendary dwarven heroes and sworn protectors of the dwarven kingdom. All dwarfs know of their famous coloured adamantine plate and their great deeds. To the Paragons, the needs of the dwarf race come first, and all other races are inconsequential.

The current leader of the Paragons is the very image of Moradin. Whilst he often waits for others to argue matters out, when he speaks he is decisive and iron-willed. Even when they disagree, the other Paragons put their trust in his judgement. During the disappearance of high-priest Luthar, Obsidian effectively blockaded the town of Everlund and took control over its guards, forcing a restless search for the missing dwarf. He then led Sapphire and Onyx into the Nether Mountains, believing the resident blue dragons to be the culprits. After you finally recovered Luthar, Obsidian thanked you and offered the Paragons as accompaniment for the high-priest for the remainder of his journey.

Firm but fair, Malachite is arguably the least harsh of the Paragons. When Obsidian left Everlund for the Nether Mountains, he left Malachite in charge. In this role, Malachite allowed you to leave the city to investigate the caves to the North of town (where you eventually found the high-priest), but forbade you from taking both him and Captain Ulfgar along, stating that the town needed “at least one dwarf in charge” at all times. Malachite also spoke dismissively about your clash with the Valentine brothers after realising that they were just vampire spawn, suggesting that the Paragons have faced true vampires in the past.

Sapphire

By far the most temperamental of the Paragons, Sapphire has shown a dislike for Barberch since the day they met in Waterdeep. Outside Everlund, it was established that this was due to Barberch’s sister and her plans to leave the priesthood. Upon this reveal, the two almost came to blows. Sapphire also disapproves of Barberch’s human and elvish travelling companions, as well as her decision to temporarily give up the search for her high-priest. Aside from this, Sapphire shows the strong will and powerful devotion to Moradin that characterises the other Paragons.

Onyx

Onyx is a quiet dwarf, answering orders with a curt nod, much like a military officer. He has been seen to be fearless in the face of danger, and relentless in the pursuit of his objectives. Little is known about his personality.
