The Band of the Wolf

A diverse group of powerful adventurers, first encountered in Waterdeep. Whilst the Band is occasionally hired for mercenary work, they are currently between jobs and following their own path. Each of the team’s members has their own motivations and abilities, but when they work together towards a common goal they are a reputedly effective force.

Ky

The leader of the Band, Ky is ever-smiling. For a paladin, he is surprisingly curious and sociable, appearing to be interested in both you and your quest. He introduced you to his team and told you of their search for the Gold Dragon Orb in the Dancing Falls of the Lost Peaks. Ky also tells you that he was once a Knight in Silver, Silverymoon’s royal guard, but left to venture out into the world. Despite the obvious strength of many of the Band’s members, Ky’s word is absolute. Recently, he has moved the team to Yartar to take part in the Annual Fighting Tournament there. There he was hired by Lord Ashcroft to teach swordsmanship to his daughter, Amelia, whom he introduced to your party. Ky showed great pleasure in seeing you all again, treating you as if you were old friends. He then paid for Mo and Barberch’s dinner, to make up for Red’s “indiscretion” (the brawl with The Shark). During the dinner, he tried to acquaint the two groups, getting his Band to tell stories of their deeds, and asking after your adventures in return. It quickly became apparent that he views people who are especially gifted or able, like all of you and the members of his Band, to be part of a chosen few destined for great things. After Yartar’s tournament Ky showed his incredible persuasive abilities by easily convinced Lord Tanas’ guards to allow weapons into his mansion.

Red is a monk of some ancient order of martial artists, and has yet to say a word. Slan described his default behaviour as “staring angrily” at people. Red mocked The Shark when he entered the Dusty Barrel, leading to a brutal brawl. When the silent monk was about to deal the finishing blow, a command from Ky caused him to hesitate and switch to a less violent attack, laying The Shark out unconscious. Ky later explained that the battle had arisen from Red seeing a fellow fist-fighter, and wishing to test his abilities. In the tournament, the monk demonstrated incredible speed and technique in addition to his skill and power, quickly devastating Eben and Harold and even besting Mo. In the latter battle, Red once again lashed out with killing intent, though Mo and Slan’s words convinced him to fight fairly from then on. In the final match, Red was finally defeated by Muk, a fact which has clearly riled the monk.

Fury

True to his name, Fury is easily angered and has a fierce temper. As a barbarian, he wields a truly enormous greatsword – so large, it is almost more a slab of iron. Fury is clearly not overly fond of Ky, so why he takes orders from the paladin, and what motivates the berserker to stay a part of the Band of the Wolf is still unknown. He seems to get on better with Slan, though still refused to be distracted by taking her out dancing. When you met up with Fury in Yartar, he seemed irritated that you had joined the fighting tournament, but still appeared confident of victory. He warned you that anyone standing against him would be crushed. Later, in the first round, he made good on this claim, though Barberch clearly put up more of a fight than he was expecting. In the Dusty Barrel, Fury was taciturn throughout, reluctant to pay for your dinner on Ky’s suggestion and unforthcoming about his past. He bluntly stated that he was an orphan and a child soldier by age 10, and that his occupation was “killing people”. After easily handling Hagnall, Fury faced Muk in a savage semi-final match that went down to the wire, with Muk outlasting his foe by literally seconds.

Slan
Human

Bold, cheerful and outgoing, the beautiful Slan is also a sorcerer of high skill. In battles, she employs a net to trap foes as well as her spells. In all of your interactions with her she has expressed a flirtatious interest in Mo. The reasons for this are unknown, though she remarked on the exotic-ness of Mo’s outfit during their first meeting. In Silverymoon, Slan repaired Mo’s broken net, and Mo thanked her by presenting her with a whistle. Whilst there, she also convinced Mo and Muk to join in Yartar’s Annual Fighting Tournament. Meeting with her again in Yartar, Slan was pleased to see Mo, quickly pressing him into taking her out to a dance hall that night. It appears that she had previously asked Fury to take her, but had been turned down. Over dinner, Slan was keen to get away in order to spend some time alone with Mo, but nevertheless regaled you with stories of the Band’s exploits. It soon became clear that she values freedom and the pursuit of enjoyment above all else. Slan journeys to experience as much of the world as possible, and ended up with the Band for the same reason.

Kristoph
Elf
Status: In Yartar
Kristoph.jpg
The most difficult to read of the Band, Kristoph is a reserved and rather dour wizard. In Silverymoon, upon discovering that Barberch and Mo were clerics, he inquired after their abilities with resurrection. Kristoph explained that he had lost a loved one, and was touring the continent to find someone who could bring her back to life. All efforts to this date have failed. Slan notes that this is literally all he cares about. In Yartar, Kristoph has been spending most of his time away from the rest of the group. Quarion claims that this is because he was busy torturing and murdering townsfolk, and may also be a member of Millennium. Kristoph’s current whereabouts and the affiliation of the rest of the Band are still unknown.

Garrett

A thief and a grave-robber, Garrett had been captured by Batlin’s undead in the Misty Forest tomb. Upon catching sight of you, Garrett pretended to be an innocent victim, but you were able to see through his trickery. You eventually freed him, but left him unconscious and without weapons or armour, something he remains bitter about. Sometime later, he managed to get to Bowshot, but was jailed by Captain Rennings. Garrett escaped again, during the destruction of the village, leading to an argument with you at the chapel. He has since reappeared in Yartar as the newest member of the Band, with Ky explaining that the group needed someone with the skills of a rogue.
