Everlund

A collection of characters encountered in and around the town of Everlund.

Ulfgar
Dwarf
Status: In Everlund
Ulfgar.jpg
Captain Ulfgar leads the town guard in Everlund – a difficult job for a dwarf surrounded by racial tension. Ulfgar cares little about his detractors, however, and remains even and fair throughout. During the disappearance of high priest Luthar, he made the unpopular decision to lock down the town, but agreed to let you journey on to Hellsgate Gate. A tough fighter, Ulfgar joined your assault on the orc caves, and was decisive in recovering Quarion when he fell, saving Luthar and stopping the clay golem. A key ally of yours, he was glad to see you return to Everlund, and asked for your aid. With his jails full, Ulfgar hired you to transport some of Grarl’s warband and the hobgoblin leader that he had been holding for you to the Grand Zaft prison in Waterdeep.

Desmond
Human
Status: In Everlund
Desmond.jpg
The owner of The Dire Lion’s Crown, Desmond is fairly unpleasant man to deal with. Smarmy and easily riled, he complained bitterly about your brawl in the tavern but was too interested in your gold to actually do anything about it. He treats Therkla badly, dresses above his station, and believes humans are superior to dwarves (though he would never say such a thing in Ulfgar’s earshot). Out of all of you, Desmond likes Muk the least. Whilst it appeared that he was going to throw you out of his tavern upon your return to Everlund, seeing Muk effortlessly (and violently) defeat three armed attackers seems to have given Desmond pause for thought.

Therkla
Half-Orc
Status: In Everlund
Therkla.jpg
Whilst half-orcs are not exactly rare, they are not often seen in day-to-day life. This makes Therkla’s job as waitress at The Dire Lion’s Crown all the more unusual. Due to her size, she is a little slow and clumsy, which is why Desmond picks on her. She is, however, a kind-hearted and warm woman who wouldn’t hurt a fly. When Cankor, Lewis and George accosted her in the tavern, Desmond did nothing, but Muk (and later Mo and Ellywick) brawled with the drunk men and threw them out. Therkla now thinks of Muk as her savior, though she is far too timid to acquiesce to his “affection”. Instead, she gave him her hand-made necklace.

Roscoe
Halfling
Status: In Everlund
Roscoe.jpg
A halfling originally from a nearby settlement, Roscoe now owns the item shop Joy of the Road. A talkative and sociable man, he did large amounts of business with the group, especially regarding arming Muk and gathering the funds to raise Quarion from the dead. In their second conversation, Roscoe appeared to recognise Quarion from somewhere, but the latter claimed that he must have been mistaken.

Borald
Dwarf
Status: In Everlund
Borald.jpg
Head priest of the Moradin church in Everlund. Borald is an intense man, prone to staring silently at people until they explain themselves. Notably, Borald was responsible for bringing Quarion back to life after his death in the orc caves. Borald refused to give a discount on the hefty price tag for doing so, despite Quarion dying to protect the town, stating that it would mean that there wouldn’t be enough components to raise the next unlucky soul to fall. This decision rankled with Ellywick.

Cankor
Human
Status: In Everlund
Cankor.jpg
A fat, lecherous drunkard and leader of a small group of thugs. As made clear by his outfit, Cankor is a chef, though the quality of his cooking cannot be vouched for. Twice now his drunken ways have brought him into conflict with you: first by accosting Therkla, and then by attempting to get revenge on Muk. Both times ended with Cankor and his gang being quickly trounced and sent running. Notably, in the second case, he attempted to convince Shinta to join his side, but the young traveller realised that the chef was lying to him.

Lewis
Human
Status: In Everlund
Lewis.jpg
The most violent member of Cankor’s gang. Whilst his boss merely wanted to beat up Muk for knocking them out last time he was in Everlund, Lewis was quick to draw his swords and go for the kill. Sadly for him, even when fighting two-on-one he was no match for Muk’s superior power, and this aggression almost cost him his life. Mo charitably saved Lewis from bleeding out, and he was last seen being unconsciously dragged out of the tavern by Cankor and George.

George
Human
Status: In Everlund
George.jpg
A large and fairly slow-witted man, covered in scars. Having few opinions of his own, George often allows Cankor and Lewis to do the brunt of the talking. Despite this, he is able to realise when things are going badly, and as such he made a hasty retreat in both bar brawls with you. In the second fight, when Lewis drew his swords, George also brought his axe to bear. So armed, he caused a great amount of damage, until it became clear that Muk was the better axeman.
